I am both thrilled and humbled to be a soul friend on a person's spiritual journey and to witness the Holy Spirit's movement and leading in life.

I believe that God has led me to this place to be available to walk alongside others. Spiritual direction has been important in my own life as a place to share and reflect on my journey, and I have a desire to accompany others on their spiritual journey as they seek a deeper relationship with God.

I first became acquainted with spiritual direction while attending a class at Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University in La Mirada, California, and was inspired to learn more about it. After completing my studies and becoming a licensed Clinical Psychologist, I performed psychological services for a Christian counseling center in Fresno. Later, I started my own individual psychological practice in northeast Fresno. Still desiring to be a part of spiritual direction, I participated in the three-year spiritual direction program at Mercy Center in Burlingame, California, completing the program in 2010. I also available as a Spiritual Director Supervisor, having completed training through Together in the Mystery in 2018. I am a certified Advanced Enneagram practitioner, and I offer this as an optional accompaniment to spiritual direction. I have found the Enneagram to be a helpful tool in identifying areas where we are operating in our false self, so that we can surrender those areas to God for healing.

I am married, and my husband Terry and I have four adult children and eight grandchildren. I enjoy early morning walks, love reading, enjoy dabbling in painting, and try to keep in touch with our kids and grandkids.

I am available for in person visits in my home or telehealth, and I have clients in several states. I have found that internet doxy.me video sessions work well, as do phone calls for those who are not in the local area.

I have a strong desire and call to assist individuals journey through inner healing. I received a certificate in Formational Prayer from Healing Care Ministries, and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University.

I have experience working one-on-one as well was with groups, as well as have a passion for hosting retreats and utilizing various forms of artistic expression.

I am a licensed Minister of Pastoral Guidance of Imani UCC where I am responsible for the development and oversight of support groups and provide individual guidance sessions.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Ursuline College. I also became a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) after obtaining a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Specialization in Diversity Management from Cleveland State University. In addition, I have taken post-graduate coursework in School Psychology.

I love to create a grace-filled window of time for someone to notice God's voice and activity in a way that ordinary life doesn't often allow us time to do. My passion is to walk with other Christians as they experience God in fresh ways and are drawn into greater intimacy with Him. God is always inviting us to join Him, and hearing and responding to those loving words is the Great Adventure of our lives!

Although I grew up attending church regularly, it wasn't until I was in my mid-20s that a relationship with Jesus became reality to me. I had college and post-graduate degrees behind me and had begun a career, and God called me from that to full-time work in a Christian setting--first in Christian education and then as part of my church's administrative staff. I've been involved in women's ministries, both counseling women and leading Bible studies. When the opportunity to pursue training as a Spiritual Director arose, it was God's next invitation to go with Him someplace new and see Him at work there.

I received my Spiritual Director training through Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction and am available to meet in person, over the phone, or via zoom. My home is in the Phoenix Metro area, where I live with my oh-so-gracious husband, Tim.

I am a graduate of Talbot's Institute for Spiritual Formation with an M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care (2020) and currently a Staff Spiritual Director at Biola University. I am second generation Mexican-American. My favorite metaphor for the role of spiritual director is that of the midwife. Being a spiritual director is one of support and coming alongside the natural work of God already happening in my directee's life. The spiritual journey was not intended to be walked alone. We are meant to journey together. I hope to provide a safe, inclusive space to discern together where God is at work within you. As a spiritual director, I hope to be very much present and WITH my directees on this often confusing, lonely, sometimes terrible, yet very wonderful, beautiful journey.
My personal soul care tends to look like writing poetry, beach walks, connecting with my Mexican culture and my husband's Korean culture through food, and visits back home to visit family in Mexico.

As a never-been-married global Jesus nomad who has been in cross-cultural ministry for over 18 years, I have called France, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia, and England “home.” I have continued to follow God into unknown places all around the world, all with a focus on fostering deep hope and connection with God and others along the way. My name is Sarah and I am a mom to four amazing daughters and am married to my college sweetheart. I am a homeschool mom, pastor’s wife, and spiritual director. I am back in the Midwest US after living as a missionary in Hungary for two years, now serving as the "Director of Family Ministries" for my local church. I am an apprentice of Jesus, learning daily to walk in His grace.

I recently completed my Master’s Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Richmont Graduate University. I felt called to begin studying to become a spiritual director while we were living in Hungary as missionaries. God was present, moving in my life and I could feel him stirring something new.

While meeting with my own spiritual director, I realized what a breath of fresh air it was to have someone safe to talk with, specifically about my walk with God. Sitting with my director, gave me a sacred space to reflect and see how God was moving in my life. Setting aside this time to meet with my spiritual director once a month became one more part of the flow of my spiritual rhythms.

When I realized how important this was to me, especially as a pastor’s wife and missionary, I wanted to share this experience with others. As an overflow of my time in direction, I began to sense a desire to offer spiritual direction to others who are also pastor’s wives, missionaries, or simply women wanting to grow with God in a new way. It is an honor to walk with others as they walk with God. Blessings!

About Me

While I had been on a church staff leading discipleship ministry since 2001, Spiritual Direction was a vague concept for me until 2014. That year, I spent a transitional season at Asbury Theological Seminary while my husband completed his Master of Divinity. As I explored next steps, I was encouraged to take advantage of Spiritual Direction offered through the seminary. As I sat with a Spiritual Director, she helped me listen and notice what God was doing in me and to discern His calling for my next chapter of life.

When I moved to Virginia to serve alongside my husband as Discipleship Director at The River Anglican Church, I discovered that Spiritual Directors were not readily available in our community. After several years of discernment with my own director, I answered God’s call to train as a Spiritual Director. Prayerful listening and noticing God’s work in the moments of a session or as revealed through prayerful exploration of scripture is a way God has called me to companion with, serve and love others in His name. God is at work all the time. Through His word, in prayer and in listening, He will show us His direction if we will wait upon Him.

While there are a variety of approaches to Spiritual Direction, my approach reflects my training through Selah, Leadership Transformation’s Training Program.

Trinitarian in theology - We explore what God, the Father is doing through the Holy Spirit to shape an individual into the image of Jesus Christ.

Contemplative in style - We prayerfully listen to God speak in our time together, noticing His movements in the individual’s life, and exploring the Spirit’s invitations to healing and growth.

Biblical in grounding - We use the Bible to prayerfully explore what God might be saying and base our understanding of God on the authority of Scriptures.

Following completion of my spiritual direction training, my husband and I began to feel the reawakening of a dream that God had placed in my heart in 2004, the creation of a retreat house. In May, 2020, we stepped out of our church staff roles to pursue God's call on our lives. After a year of searching, we found a property with a separate apartment next to a lively creek, nestled in Blue Ridge Mountains near Waynesville, NC. We renovated this property to provide a quiet space for individuals or couples to rest, listen to God, and be renewed. We've named this place Kerith Retreat (see 1 Kings 17), and we opened in July 2022. I meet directees via Zoom or at Kerith. Feel free to reach out via email, and we can set up an initial conversation or arrange a retreat.

My personal journey has taught me that trying to be “perfect” and performing for love, only weighs us down with anxiety, but resting with Jesus and receiving His grace, sets us free.

My life’s purpose is to encourage women to slow down, breathe deeply and receive God’s loving words of life and truth. I would love to journey with you as your Spiritual Companion, as you discern what invitations the Lord has for you, during this season of your life.

I recently heard Spiritual Direction described as a luxurious sacred hour of resting in God’s presence. I love that description! As the Holy Spirit (the true director in the room) guides me, our sessions may include: guided meditations, space to breathe and bring your Heavenly Father whatever is on your heart, (He can handle our hurts, our doubts and our fears), questions that help you dig deeper and discover your deepest desires, and times of silence and listening prayer. Jesus loves to spend time with His beloved children, and He is inviting us to pay attention and notice the ways He is already working in our lives.

I’ve been married for over a decade, and I’m grateful for the ways my amazing husband and sons inspire me not to take myself too seriously, and to savor the good gifts right in front of me. I’m a fan of hosting neighborhood potlucks, swing and salsa dancing, cooking, hiking with family and friends and reading. Jesus is inviting my family and I to live a grateful, unhurried, unplugged, and generously hospitable life.

Educational Background: In 2006 I received a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. Because I love all things contemplative, I received a second certificate in Spiritual Direction in 2009, from CFDM, Christian Formation & Direction Ministries, Pacific Northwest.

It took me 15 years to find a Spiritual Director and when I did in a small way it was like coming home. I felt heard maybe for the first time by a person who was truly able to listen with a discerning ear. She was able to help me see where God was working, loving and guiding me. It was such a gift from God. I am a graduate from the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology. I have been practicing the art of Spiritual Direction since 2009. I am currently working at Biola University with seminary students and leading groups and retreats. I also lead small contemplative retreats for women seeking a deeper relationship with Christ. The gift of spiritual direction changed my life! Through it, I have seen how present God is in the darkness and the light. I am amazed over and over again at how much God can move through creating space for silence and listening.

I have a passion for studying the Scriptures thoroughly, and I believe contemplation has a role in developing a deep understanding of Scripture. I've also committed much of my life to building bridges between the Muslim and Christian communities to help break down barriers of misunderstanding. Through that, I have a significant amount of cross-cultural experience.

I really love meeting with people as a spiritual director. I find so many people (especially people who work in ministry) really long for space where they can share freely without any expectations to meet or goals to set.
I am especially interested in meeting with people who work in ministry, although I am open to meeting with anybody. I'm also trained in group direction and contemplative retreat leadership. I would be delighted to facilitate group spiritual direction or retreats.

Steve’s mission as a spiritual director is to create a safe place for you to do your soul work so you can be present with yourself and with God. He is passionate in helping people connect intimately with the Lord.

A longtime member of Willow Creek Community Church; Steve has served both in the couple’s and men’s ministries. He previously served in Restore, a marriage restoration ministry, and offers spiritual direction at Willow Huntley.

Steve received advanced certificates in spiritual formation and spiritual direction through Moody Bible Institute and is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana. Steve attended initial and second level Crucible Project weekends.

Steve is a CPA, worked in public accounting, was the CFO for two different corporations as well as running his own retail business for seventeen years.

Steve is renewed in nature and is an avid photographer of birds and other wildlife. He rides the Fox River bike trails and enjoys fishing. Steve and April, his wife, live in Dundee, Illinois. They have three adult children.

A spiritual director of women, I savor being with spiritual directees in the presence of the Holy Spirit: looking, listening, discerning, and moving closer to Holy Trinity’s heart. Together, let’s notice the invitations of God. Let’s linger with the Lord as you stretch and grow into depth and wholeness of integration in all areas of your life with Christ. During lane changes, blind spots occur. Like mirrors, maps, and traffic signals, let’s notice & traverse the terrain of your own heart and soul. My heart delights in praying with and for you as you are journeying with Jesus. My practice focuses on prayerfulness, inner healing, spiritual disciplines, creativity, Scripture, and asking attentive questions. With parachurch and church organizations, in person and via Skype or FaceTime, my spiritual direction practice cares for the heart and soul of God’s women. Through Denver Seminary, I completed a two-year certificate program in Christian Formation and Soul Care. What are God’s invitations to you this day?
