Have you ever wanted more from your relationship with God but are unsure how to go deeper with Him? Pause from the busyness of life to be with and listen to God, who speaks to your longings. Spiritual Direction with me at Beloved Discipleship is an invitation to a one-on-one ministry guiding us prayerfully into intimacy with God, helping you discern "God Moments" in your life and respond to those out of love for Jesus.

I have seen that many Christians keep tremendously busy in their service to God. Yet, an intimate relationship with God, knowing and experiencing God's presence and love, gives the abundant life that Jesus offers (John 10:10). A quote that I love is by Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 - 1153): "If then you are wise, you will show yourself rather as a reservoir than as a canal. A canal spreads abroad water as it receives it, and a reservoir waits until it is filled before overflowing, and thus without loss to itself communicates its superabundant water. In the Church at the present day we have many canals but few reservoirs."*

I love this quote because this may be said of the Church today as well. God invites his beloved children to live lives overflowing with his love and power. Yet, many today live "drained, dry, and exhausted."* How do we experience a life with God that overflows rather than drains? Whether you are in a joyous or dry season, I have seen that spiritual direction, an ancient church ministry, is a gift to experience.

I have long been passionate about guiding people into deeper intimacy with God. I hold a Master's in Education and a Doctorate in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary. I have served overseas with The Navigators for thirty-plus years and now provide soul care for others living abroad. I have years of experience listening to God alongside other Christ followers and, by God's grace, have helped guide many Christians and not-yet Christians as they seek to know God. I offer spiritual direction and retreats in both Spanish and English.

I am a graduate of the Institute for Spiritual Formation where I received an MA in Spiritual Formation and Soulcare. I have been practicing spiritual direction since 2006.

I have found my spiritual life often parallels my physical journey through life with its various twists and turns. I am from the South and have lived in various states throughout that area. I received my MDiv from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama, moved to Tennessee when I got married and started a family. We followed God's leading to California where I trained and practiced as a spiritual director for 13 years before moving back to Tennessee. Through it all, God has used these experiences in my formation to open to Him, depend on Him, and shape me to become more like Jesus, and this is what I enjoy about direction - companioning with people where they find themselves in their journey with God and helping them discern His presence in their lives.

I love helping others develop spiritual habits and draw closer to God as they become like Jesus for the sake of others.
Sharon and I were married in 1974, have four adult children and nine grandchildren. We have served as pastors since 1980 and currently reside in the greater Phoenix, Arizona area. I have a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, have been trained as a Spiritual Director through Selah, a Certificate Program from Leadership Transformation (https://www.leadershiptransformations.org/selah), and I am presently working on a DMin with an emphasis in Spiritual Formation at Phoenix Seminary.

I have over 30 years of ministry experience as a pastor and missionary in many contexts and cultures. I am an ordained minister, hold a Master of Divinity degree, and am trained in Spiritual Direction through Sustainable Faith. I am comfortable connecting with persons from other faith traditions or with someone who may be in a season of doubt. I have my own experience with grief, pain, and disappointment and have found that places of struggle, times of transition, and moments of grief are fertile soil for personal transformation.

My experience as a Spiritual Director emerged from my own need to move beyond a knowledge and information centered faith to a more experiential encounter with Jesus. Years of struggling as a missionary and deep challenges in relationships with my adult children required a greater depth to my faith. My pain was God's invitation to move toward a new awareness of the Holy Spirit's presence. Meeting with a Spiritual Director was a key part to setting out on that journey.

I am heavily involved locally with a non-profit ministry that brings help and healing to persons coming out of prison and addiction. I also come alongside cross-cultural workers to provide a proactive intervention that moves them toward God's sustaining presence.

My wife and I love serving and adventuring together to places all around the world. I enjoy hiking, cycling, and a good cup of coffee.

I am also a Caregiver Partner for Full Strength Network.

My experience as a listener began in my relationships with family, friends and God. I was gifted additional grace as a listener when my husband and I were invited on a church planting adventure in 1984. My listening skills continued to develop as a youth leader, women's ministry leader, Sunday School teacher and in pastoral ministry roles. Completing my certification as a spiritual director in 2017 was a gift of grace as I experienced God honing my skills and calling me to offer presence to people as they wrestle with life's questions and God's relationship to them. It is a privilege to listen with unconditional positive regard and love to each one sitting in the chair across from me. In March of 2024 I completed my training to offer the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, a retreat in daily life. It is a privilege to companion exercitants as they make the Exercises, a life-changing school of prayer, healing and discernment.

I have deep respect for each individual and their sacred journey. I have a holy curiosity about the work that Beloved Trinity is up to in each person I meet with. I believe each person is an expert on their own experience and it humbles me to be a part of God's gentle process of formation in their lives. The joy is my front row seat to the miracle of transformation in each one.
I am honored to be called Grammy to Mandy and Nathan, Mom to Jeremy, Mechelle and Maria and "Honey" to my husband of almost 42 years.

Before I was I spiritual director, I was an RN in community services. I like to think that I went from healthcare to soul care!

I believe that the gift of Spiritual Direction is the opportunity to grow in intimacy and friendship with the Lord.

I received spiritual direction training from the Institute of Spiritual Formation at the Talbot School of Theology and completed the program in May 2024.

I firmly believe that God desires intimate relationship and joy-filled friendship with each of His children. One of my favorite things to witness in the spiritual direction process is people discovering the Lord's affection and intentionality for them and their faith. I desire to come alongside others to help them become aware of how God is shaping and molding their journey to bring them deeper into His abundant love.

It is my deepest joy to serve as spiritual director in Seattle - either in person or on line.

My underlying conviction is that God is always present, always active, and always loving. I believe that there is much more on offer in our lives with God, if we would only stop and listen, and listen again. I believe that God's doors are already flung open to us and that much of our journey is simply choosing to "begin again". And again. In doing so we learn to walk with the risen Christ in open honesty, free to receive His love. Having drunk deeply of His love we grow in our desire to join Him in relationship and in His projects.

Together, with my wife Renee, we have founded Soul Care Seattle at The Layne: an urban retreat home in Seattle, dedicated as a quiet and safe place for people to explore and deepen their relationship with God in solitude and community. Either virtually or in person, at The Layne, we seek to serve individuals who are in crisis, a season of change, or simply want more out of their relationship with Christ. We have a special heart for companioning those who are in ministry, experience loss and/or infertility, as well as those who identify as LGBT or same sex attracted and their friends and family.

We offer the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola, the 19th Annotation. This 9 month prayer retreat in daily life begins each year in September.

I received my training and certification through CFDM (Christian Formation and Direction Ministries). At Azusa Pacific University, I earned a Masters in Religion: Theology and Ethics and a BS in Christian Leadership.

I am often in Culver City and a have retreat space in Valley Center (N. San Diego Co.) to meet with individuals or small groups. My desire is to provide a safe / sacred environment for women to encounter the Lord in the midst of whatever circumstance or experience they might be facing. It is a delight to sit with someone as they experience God in such a life-giving way and to experience Holy Spirit presence in our midst. Watching another receive from the Lord is a highlight for me as a spiritual director. I would be honored to hear from you and potentially walk with you on your spiritual journey.

I spent several years working at a Christian School, and then served with an organization supporting Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I have been involved in different healing ministries throughout the years, but I became interested in spiritual direction when a friend from church told me about it in 2020. Meeting with my spiritual director has been a positive experience which has helped me to grow spiritually, and I desire to come alongside other women as we pursue God together. The Lord began speaking to me about a new season and I was drawn to begin training for spiritual direction.

My husband and I both grew up in Illinois and currently live in PA. We have been married since 1972 and have 4 married children and 7 grandchildren. Prior to moving to PA, we taught missionary children in Thailand for two years and spent two years in Puerto Rico where we served at Christian schools.

I completed my Spiritual Direction training at Evangelical Theological Seminary in October 2022.

Contemplative Prayer: You lead individuals in contemplative prayer, a form of deep, reflective prayer aimed at quieting the mind and opening the heart to the presence of Jesus. This practice encourages a profound sense of connection and communion with Him.

Active Silence: Through guided sessions of active silence, you help individuals find stillness in the midst of their busy lives. This silence is not merely the absence of noise but a purposeful quieting of the soul to listen for Jesus's voice and feel His love.

Listening: Your practice emphasizes the importance of attentive and compassionate listening. By truly hearing the experiences, struggles, and joys of those you guide, you create a safe space for them to explore their faith and relationship with Jesus.

I am a spiritual director based in central Arkansas, where I reside with my wife and two beloved dogs. My spiritual direction practice extends both locally and remotely, allowing me to serve individuals from various locations. Prior to my work as a spiritual director, I dedicated several years to student ministry, which has greatly influenced my approach to accompanying others on their spiritual journeys.

It is a profound honor and source of joy to have the opportunity to join Jesus everyday as he leads others to know him more. I am passionate about utilizing the knowledge and insights I have gained, as well as the ongoing lessons I continue to learn, to bridge the gap between everyday life and a richer theology. My purpose is to support and guide others in discovering a flourishing life with God.

When I am not working, I cherish moments of travel with my wife, immersing ourselves in new experiences and exploring the wonders of the world. Additionally, I find solace and inspiration in the beauty of nature while adventuring outdoors with my faithful canine companions. Nourishing my mind with the wisdom of old books, savoring the delights of coffee, and relishing in the pleasures of good food are also among the simple joys that bring me contentment.
