Mission & Vision
My mission is to be a trusted guide who creates loving, safe, and hospitable spaces that invite the Holy Spirit's work of wholeness, healing, and transformation for all who seek companionship on their faith journey. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, this ministry offers spiritual direction, spiritual retreats, teaching, and writing.

My Story
Some say life starts when we are born, but my life truly began when I was introduced to the healing, transformational power of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Coming from experiences of childhood trauma, I was deeply wounded and unable to see or draw from the divine Spirit within me. Then, just when I had given up on ever finding true peace, God put the right people in my life who set me on a life-long journey that brought deep inner healing and transformation. I am eternally grateful for people who sat and listened to my story, praying with me as the Spirit worked. Now, from a healed, transformed heart and with the power of the Holy Spirit, it is my joy to create space where others can explore God’s movement in their spiritual journey of healing and transformation.
I have worked in Corporate America for nearly 30 years using my Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Dayton. But my true passion is helping people grow in God’s Word! So I returned to school to earn my Master of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary. I currently serve as an Associate Minister at Imani United Church of Christ, where I am honored to help people immerse themselves in God’s love through the Word by teaching Bible Study and writing Bible Study curricula.
I remain confident that the teaching ministry is vital and foundational in helping believers to grow in Christ. But I also believe that we reach our fullest potential as children of God when we journey with someone who can help us to see the move of God in our lives for a deeper, more intimate relationship with Christ. The ministry of spiritual direction and retreat planning extend my ability to walk with others on their spiritual journey, and my certificate in Spiritual Formation and the Art of Spiritual Direction from Healing Care Ministries has equipped me with the tools and training to do so.

I live in Northeast Ohio with my husband, and we have six adult children.

About Me

I am a Spiritual Director with an M.A. in Spiritual Formation & Soul Care from the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University as well as an M.A. in New Testament Studies. I have a very particular passion for those who feel stuck in their spiritual journey or who feel on the outskirts of what should be or what others are experiencing with God or the church. It is easy to find ourselves wondering "what is wrong with me," without any sense of where to turn or what to do in order to be "fixed" or return to "normal". In reality, everyone's journey with God is unique and I feel a deep sense of joy in helping others develop their own unique experience with God.

I have an interest in various personality theories (I am most familiar with Myers-Briggs and the Enneagram) as they relate to spirituality and enjoy exploring the inner work of the Holy Spirit as it relates to a person's individuality rather than what the expected "normal" is supposed to look like. I take particular delight in exploring where a person's emotional (heart) experience/theology contrasts with learned (head) theology and working through the tension that is found there.

I also have experience with inner healing and deliverance prayer ministry, which I generally do independent of direction, but these skills can be useful during direction in rare and particular instances. Those who are desiring exclusively the inner healing/deliverance ministry (either one session or several) are welcome to contact me for that purpose as well, without any expectation to continue in a Spiritual Direction relationship beyond that.

Regardless of where you are coming from or what your hopes and expectations may be, my hope for you is that you find a space where you feel heard, known, and loved as you are, without needing to change or grow in order to be accepted. May you sense the Holy Spirit's guidance in this present season.

My first introduction to spiritual direction was through personal reading and interaction with the VantagePoint3 processes, (www.vantagepoint3.org), as well as meeting a spiritual director at a pastor's conference who was instrumental in my introduction to prayer practices and demonstrating a genuine, hospitable, listening heart.

With over 20 years of ministry experience, I am a Christian Spiritual Director with a passion for listening and walking with others as they follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Having most recently served on staff of Horizon Church in Galt, California, I have experience in helping women and men navigate the challenges of life transitions – whether it be changes in relationships, a life-altering diagnosis, the loss of a loved one or other shifts in life circumstances – listening to more than words, but listening to the heart, helping sense God’s closeness and discovering where He is already at work.

The ministry of spiritual direction has been life affirming and changing for me. There have been several people through life that have served as listener's and companions along the way. I desire to be ‘that’ person that listens, that pays attention to someone's heart and desire to follow Jesus and be close to Him. It is always an honor to hear someone's story and walk with them on their faith journey as we recognize that the Lord is always present, He is good, He is already at work and He is the real director.

I continued to pursue my training and have received my Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Sioux Falls Seminary in the Listening People to Life Program. (www.sfseminary.edu). I also have a Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Montevallo (Alabama).

My husband, John, and I have been married nearly 48 years and have served in different church ministry situations together. We have one married son, a lovely daughter in law and two grandchildren.

I completed the Selah training for Spiritual Direction, and have a Masters in Spiritual Formation from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

For the past 28 years I have served with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in its mission to see the gospel penetrate and transform the lives of students and faculty in colleges and universities in New England. My passion in this work has been to come alongside others in their journey towards Jesus, wherever they are in that process. My current role is to serve the spiritual formation needs of our staff throughout New England.

I love the opportunity in Spiritual Direction to join with others in their journey of faith, their experience of God, and being an observer of the transformational power of God. I especially enjoy working with leaders and those involved in mission. I long to see others come to a deeper experience of God’s love that sets them free to live the lives they were made to live.

I live on the beautiful coast of Maine with my wife of 25 years, 13-year old daughter and 5-year old son. Some of my interests include surfing (yes, even in winter), hiking, astronomy, maps, and exploring new places.

Widowed nearly two decades and having raised an son as a single parent, I have walked with people experiencing grief and loss. I have seen God redeem and heal much trauma in my own life and in others as well. Being present on the journey to listen with empathy and witness how God is loving, caring for, and forming the soul is such a rich experience of God's grace to me.

I have served on retreat teams, offering individual spiritual direction as well as group spiritual direction via group lectio divina. I enjoy facilitating group centering prayer and Taize chant prayer. I have found utilizing the somatic practice of BioSpiritual Focusing fruitful and Ignatian spirituality resonates. I have accompanied individuals one-on-one usually in a monthly rhythm. I am comfortable in the inter-faith space, rooted in the Christian faith tradition.

During a year when confusion and disappointment felt like the only sure thing in my life, I was introduced to the ministry of Spiritual Direction. This grace-filled way of being listened to brought solace and clarity to my soul. As my spiritual journey transitioned, soul care practices and retreats became regular appointments on my calendar. The Lord enabled me to earn a certificate in spiritual direction from Leadership Transformations, Inc in 2011. It is now my joy to facilitate retreats and companion others in their life with God.

Prior to this I worked as an occupational therapist. In the church I led growth groups for survivors of abuse, offered lay counseling and I have mentored many women. Naturally, these experiences shape the way I companion others in spiritual direction. I love being outdoors and enjoy Wisconsin's four season. My husband and I have four grown children.

During a transitional phase in my life, I realized that I hungered to know God in a deeper, more experiential way. Pursuing that desire, I began seeing a spiritual director and my journey of discovery of God and myself began to open in new and richer ways. A year later I enrolled in a 2-year program of spiritual formation and direction training through Christian Formation and Direction Ministries (CFDM, San Diego). In 2008, I completed the program with a certificate in the Art of Christian Spiritual Direction.

I believe that God has called me to be a spiritual director and it is my pleasure and joy to meet with a directee and accompany them through the up’s and down’s of their life journey, experiencing God’s presence in the midst of their hurt, growth, trauma, healing, and celebration.

Recently, I have studying how mystics like John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and the Cloud of Unknowing can help process loss and grief, as well as, strengthen our souls in times of stress and change. Understanding of how our minds, bodies, and emotions interact helps us deal with situations and interactions in a healthy way. Incorporating this wisdom into my life has been a good addition to my formation training and has allowed me to offer it's insights through spiritual direction, as well.

As a women's ministry leader in an urban church, a mom (both adoptive and biological), and a seasoned mentor, I delight in seeing God at work in the lives of women of different ages, races, and life situations. I particularly prioritize listening to the stories of women who have previously felt unheard or marginalized. Together we look for how God is working through daily life and how He is inviting you to respond to these circumstances.

In addition to my training in spiritual direction through the Selah Certificate program, I have a BA in Psychology and a Master of Social Work. Prior to becoming a spiritual director, I was the coordinator of a housing program for teenage moms, a foster care case manager, and a birth parent counselor. These experiences have allowed me to understand the needs of women experiencing life disruptions and loss. I have also been significantly shaped by a racially diverse culture throughout my adult life and credit my experience in majority Black churches for a huge part of my spiritual development.

Twelve years ago my husband and I adopted a two year old boy with medical needs from China. In the midst parenting two other children and mentoring and discipling women in my church and community, my life became focused on all kinds of therapy appointments, surgeries, and further training on how to parent a child who had experienced trauma. As I provided support for my family, I also began to more fully accept how the Holy Spirit wanted to support and strengthen me. I have especially loved using imaginative imagery in prayer, while staying rooted in Scripture and Christian orthodoxy.

I look forward to connecting to women who want to grow in relationship with Christ, who need a place to sort out their thoughts and questions about their faith or religion, who feel unheard and misunderstood, and are experiencing some level of brokenness. I also welcome women who are ministering to others and need a place where you are heard, respected, and pointed back to God's love.

God made space for us in his covenant family. We are embraced as children. We respond by making space for God and entering that space to be with him. My practice is to journey alongside of people who are seeking to "be" with and to live deeply in God's presence. This spiritual life is not hidden inside us. Living in the presence of God, being in touch with God's Spirit, being fined tuned to God's sensitivities opens our hearts and sharpens our awareness of the movement of God in all of our ordinary activities among ordinary people. The true spiritual life is not an escape from life. It is a confrontation with life. It is not a leisure-time activity or a diversion from life, but journey where we find space to "be" with God as we partner with God gathering, reconciling and uniting this world to himself.

I have been a missional pastor for over 30 years working in and through local church communities, (primarily Chicago, IL and Columbus, Ohio), international ministry partnerships, (such as Ghana, South Africa and Zambia), and in hospital settings (particularly Rush University, Chicago, IL). I have a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, an Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in pastoral care and counseling), and a Doctorate of Ministry in Evangelism. I am certified as a life coach and actively apply this set of skills with developing leaders. I also have over 3000 hours in Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE). I am trained by the Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual direction with an emphasis of Ignatian spirituality.

I have been married for 38 years and have three children and nine grandchildren. I am interested in a good story, mentoring young leaders - particularly men, the arts, woodworking, and outdoor activities (i. e. hiking, canoeing, backpacking, and skiing) and traveling to explore new places.

I believe God is present and available in every moment of our lives. When meeting for spiritual direction we take notice of God's grace in your life. The hour we spend together is all about you and is for you. My role is to walk with you in embracing the transformation God desires for you.

I have been engaged in the art and practice of spiritual direction since 2014. I started my training under the teaching of Dr. Susan Reese in the Listening People to Life program through Sioux Falls Seminary. Upon completion of the life-giving program in 2016, I wrapped up my Master's degree in 2018. Prior to and during my seminary training, I worked in community and economic development serving low-income and rural communities. It was good work, and I am grateful for the experiences and the many impactful people I met along the way.

The unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) under Rev. Dr. Karl Van Harn taught me to pay attention to the areas where I needed growth, which stretched me farther than I could have imagined. The time spent with this CPE group was the catalyst that challenged me and gave me confidence to enter into this work vocationally.

Participating in the two-year Transforming Community under the teaching of Ruth Haley Barton was enlightening and truly transforming. I have long been drawn to the spiritual practices that Christians down through the ages have used to open themselves to God's transforming work. TC16 gave me a framework of intentionality for the transformation I sought.

If you would like to explore Spiritual Direction for yourself, I offer a free 30-minute introductory meeting to help you determine if spiritual direction with me is a good fit. Typically, we would meet once a month either by Zoom or in person.

Hello! My name is Jennifer and my family and I live in the beautiful Seacoast region of New Hampshire. I serve as part-time spiritual formation staff at 4Rivers Church and meet with individual directees through my practice, Seacoast Spiritual Direction.

My own spiritual formation has deepened and developed through 18 years of experience in ministry—as a missionary in Southeast Asia, a discipleship training school director in Australia, and as church staff (or intern) in California, Oklahoma, and New Hampshire. In 2024, I completed my training as a Spiritual Director with Kairos University in their "Listening People to Life" program.

As a Spiritual Director, I feel blessed to hold space for women from all walks of life as they share their stories and process their relationship with God. I believe in the transformative power of Jesus and am committed to helping women find freedom and peace through noticing and naming the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

I meet with directees both in person in Durham, NH, and online via Google Meet, making spiritual direction accessible to everyone. I offer a complimentary first session to help us get to know one another and see if we’re a good fit for continued direction.

About Me

I have a deeply held passion for soul care, which I have been immersed in throughout my 30 year career in professional psychotherapy and consulting. Emotional well-being and spiritual peace are intricately connected. As such, anything that improves the psyche enriches the soul, and vice versa.

I’ve been immersed in meditation throughout my adult life, and have had a long-standing grounding in Contemplative traditions of Christianity. This began with my introduction to Centering Prayer in 1993, and was followed by becoming a facilitator to teach Centering Prayer through Contemplative Outreach of Colorado. I've continued to value the on-going retreats and meditation training I've engaged in since then. I received the Certificate in Spiritual Direction from St John's School of Theology in Saint Cloud, Minnesota in June of 2024. This two-year immersion in Spiritual Direction is based in the contemplative roots of our Christian faith, beginning with the Desert Fathers and Mothers, and including Benedictine and Ignation traditions. I love this focus in this program on humility, stability, and listening for the still-speaking God in each person's life.

l’m happy to have now entered that phase of life in which I can re-focus my long-standing work as a trauma therapist into a more direct focus on tending to soul.

My approach to our work together is collaborative. I’ll work compassionately and respectfully with you to enhance and deepen your spiritual walk. I offer an initial 30 minute phone, Zoom, or in-person visit for us to talk more about your journey and answer any further questions you may have. About Me

I believe spiritual direction should be a safe, welcoming space where we will practice a type of holy listening. Our time is not focused on fixing your problems or giving advice. You can expect me to come along beside you, listen, pray, hold space and silence for you to listen to God and sometimes ask questions.

I assume God is at work in every area of our lives: our relationships, our work, our leisure, and quiet. God is present in our doubt and frustration and pain as well as in our certainty, our joy and our healing. Because of that you can talk about anything, and we will listen together for where God is in the midst of it. Our time together is sacred. I will hold our conversations in confidence.

I received my spiritual direction training from the Transformational Listening Center (http://tlcchicago.com) in 2020 and currently serve on staff at TLC, where I facilitate one-on-one spiritual direction, listening groups, group spiritual direction and supervise one-on-one spiritual direction practice for students. I also sometimes teach on topics related to listening and spiritual formation (e.g. listening for God, recognizing the Kingdom of God in our lives, practicing forgiveness, listening to others, and transitions and self-care).

I have been married since 2008 and have two tween/teen daughters. I grew up moving frequently and have lived all over the Midwest and East Coast of the U.S. as well as in the U.K., Germany and Kazakhstan. I have been a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Chicago since 2009, and in that time I have been active in many of the church’s ministries and currently serves on the Spiritual Formation Team, lead a listening group for women who want to go deeper in their relationship with Jesus, and sometimes teach Adult Sunday School classes on various spiritual formation topics.

I spent much of my life working hard to tame my own inner chaos by trying to be “good". At the same time, like a seed underground, the truer work of God’s love was taking root and growing into something far more interesting and beautiful than my own efforts could accomplish. The practice of spiritual direction has been a gift to me as I am learning to sink deeper in to God’s love for me and listen as He calls me to the life He has given me. It is a humbling privilege and joy to be able to sit and provide space for others as they are invited to see how they are uniquely and beautifully made. I truly enjoy noticing with them the evidence of God’s movement in their lives, taking heart that none of us are abandoned or alone.

I live in Northern California with my husband of 30 years and value a slow and simple life. We fancy ourselves to be suburban farmers and love working in the garden and tending the ground where we live. I am also a piano teacher, and enjoy songwriting, poetry, nature, and hanging out with my adult children.

I and my husband have recently transplanted to the Midwest U.S.A. after serving as global workers in Asia for more than 34 years.

I love walking alongside women in ministry and have been journeying with others, offering a compassionate learning space as a spiritual director. My past ministry experience encouraging women propelled me to complete a Life Coaching certification and B.A. in Biblical Counselling. These tools have been a platform for deepening prayer movements within my more recent ministry role as a spiritual director, emphasising the direct connection between spiritual direction and prayer. I see this as a conversation not simply between two people but between two people and God. I believe prayer is central to being attentive to God’s presence and to one’s experience of the presence, which is at the very core of spiritual direction.

I have been impacted by Thomas Merton’s description of a spiritual director as one who cares for the whole person and helps another ‘recognise and follow the inspirations of grace in his life, in order to arrive at the end to which God is leading him.’ My heritage and life in Asia have given me a rich experience of sharing tea/hosting, which [for me] is symbolic of spiritual direction. Author Susan Philips highlights the spiritual director’s “… job… to be a host to a time of reflection focused on the other person’s experience of the holy… trying to keep… on course toward a sense of God [and His presence].”

I received spiritual direction training through Stewards of The Mystery program and I am available to meet for spiritual direction over the phone or via Zoom. My husband David and I have been married for over 46 years, and we make our home in southern Indiana. I find great joy in being grandmother of three and I take pleasure in quilting, gardening and being outside in nature.
