About Me

The practice of coming alongside and companioning with a person (or small group) to help them pay attention to what God, through His Holy Spirit, is personally communicating and doing in and with them as they journey through this thing called life. This companioning leads to growth in Christlikeness and noticing the Holy Spirit’s transforming work in their life.

Specialties include missionaries and cross-cultural direction. I have been in International Missions since 2008, living in three different countries (Honduras, Germany, France), and I'm now back in Honduras serving in a missionary care role to the hundreds of missionaries in this third-world country. Spiritual Direction is a part of my ministry to the ministers, and serving those who serve.

I married my husband Pete in 1995, have boy/girl twins, three stepsons, and eight grandchildren. I am the oldest of four girls with no brothers. I received my Spiritual Direction certification from Sustainable Faith in 2021.

Contemplative Life is one rooted in the practices of silence, stillness, and solitude. It is through these practices that I believe we are able to live and serve from a place of overflow, honoring the way that Jesus taught us through his life and ministry. Our time together will include silence. Understanding that human complexity and the busyness of our world sometimes can make this practice difficult to learn, we will also be sharing thoughts, desires, and prayers–honoring the beauty of Semi-Silent space!

Linda is a licensed minister who has been in full time ministry at the local church level for 12 years. She currently serves as the Care and Prayer Pastor at EastLake Church in San Diego and sits on their leadership team. Outside of work she enjoys time with her family, pets, and any activity involving the ocean. She has been trained in contemplative spiritual direction through Selah’s two year program.

Linda offers contemplative spiritual direction with an awareness of the body and trauma. Somatic Experiencing® is a modality that helps work with the stuck energy of trauma in the body in a way that is supported and titrated in order to not re-traumatize the individual. Linda is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner® certified with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.

In 1995, I became aware of "holy listening" while reading Margaret Guenther's work. Her work and writings affirmed what I knew but did not have a term for in the spiritual life. I grew up surrounded by "holy listeners' who understood listening to and being aware of the presence of God in all of life. My family members and teachers understood living the presence of Christ in the rhythms of work, play and rest.

After completing a BA in Religious Studies, a Master's in Counseling and an EdD in Adult and Higher Education, I pursued a certificate in spiritual direction through the Christos Center in MN. This experience was personally and professionally life giving! I teach courses in Listening People to Life: Training in Spiritual Direction at Sioux Falls Seminary. Students come longing for a greater awareness of the presence of God, the ministry of Christ, and of the Spirit's work in and through their lives. I am honored to join people in their spiritual journey.

I value the ministry of spiritual direction as it allows space and time to remember who we are as God's children. It allows a prayerful space for listening and discerning God's purposes for our lives. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us of the peace that will permeate our lives when we are focused on God. I tend to meet with people who are in times of transitions and seeking God's direction for their lives.

I am married to Randy Reese, founder of the ministry VantagePoint 3. We have a high school son who loves to train and participate in swim competitions! We enjoy the rhythm of work, play and rest together.

I am available to facilitate personal or group direction and retreats. I am a certified Strengths coach and have worked with individuals and churches in the use of Strengths and spiritual direction in discerning personal and community life transitions.

I have a passion for soul care and am especially burdened for those who serve in ministry, who may become weary and need spiritual refreshment. It is my desire to offer a listening ear and to journey alongside those who desire a spiritual companion. I enjoy meeting with individuals one on one (face to face or via screen). I currently lead bi-annual half-day retreats that combine solitude and group direction (in Dundee, IL).
I received much of my core Christian instruction through John Ortberg, when he was a teaching pastor at Willow Creek Community Church (Barrington, IL). I was led to obtain a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) and later on, a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Direction from North Park Theological Seminary (Chicago, IL). Being driven to being drawn is how I described my own need for spiritual direction years ago. Now, as a spiritual director, it is an honor to help others internally quiet down, listen and grow in awareness of the gentle, loving presence of God.

It is life-giving to come alongside and care for others as they often find themselves running on empty. I have journeyed with the broken-hearted and feel at home in grief and tears, knowing that God is near to those who hurt deeply. I also savor times of celebration -being with others as they catch glimpses of God’s goodness, amazing care and deep love.

After being on staff in both para-church and church settings for 25+ years, I sensed God intentionally leading me to grow in loving Him and loving others well. I immersed myself in a 3-year spiritual training, earning my MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care through Talbot Seminary.

My husband and I have been married for 40 years and we have three amazing adult children, one special son-in- law and two precious grandchildren. I delight in strolling in nature with a friend, relaxing with a good book, and savoring time (and food!) with family and friends around the table.

Over the years, spiritual direction has been a place where I have deepened by relationship God. I retired as an Audiologist and felt called to become a spiritual director. I was trained in Christian Formation Direction Ministries of San Diego and finished in 2011. I moved from assisting people to hear their outer world, to listening to their internal soul.

I also am an author and published a workbook called Not Alone: A Christ-Centered recovery process for women who have experienced physical, emotional or sexual trauma (2019) and Not Alone: Transforming Trauma and Accompanying Survivors (2020). As I started to share my own story of childhood molestation and deeper healing of God, many women have shared their stories with me. Both books contain true stories and spiritual practices that allow God's loving transformation. My latest book, "Spiritual Direction with Survivors of Sexual Trauma" (2023) sprang forth from my experience teaching direction students, accompanying survivors in direction, and meeting with directors in supervision. It brings me joy to see women become freer to be who they were created to be.

I am married to my husband, Ron, of 31 years. We have three grown daughters and two grandchildren.

I love to swim, dance and take walks along the ocean.

My background is in the church and academia, where I have served in a variety of roles for 35 years. My personal spiritual perspective is what I would call contemplative evangelical and firmly orthodox. I have been ordained in the Evangelical Free Church of America and hold a Doctor of Ministry in leadership and a Ph.D. in socioeconomics (Spiritual Capital Theory). I have written or contributed to five books. I have taught and coached many leaders in my various roles and now feel called to embrace the vocation of spiritual direction on a more full time basis. I have completed three years of training as a spiritual director and been under supervision.

My view of spiritual direction can be summarized by Frank J. Houdek in his book, "Guided by the Spirit."

Spiritual direction is a conversation, a dialogue, between two people. In such a conversation one person aides another, often by a process of question and answer, to express his or her experience of personal faith and mystery.

My goal in direction, through this spiritual conversation, is to assist my directees in discerning how God is presently at work in their lives, so that they might more consciously and continually experience His presence in their lives.

Helping people deepen their intimacy with Jesus is a sacred privilege that I feel honored to be a part of when people meet with me in spiritual direction. I am a native Southern Californian and attended CSU Long Beach where I received a BA in Psychology with an emphasis in creative writing. After graduating, I went on to work in the medical field for 12 years before entering into Pastoral ministry in the early 2000s. In 2001, I began the MDiv program at Talbot Seminary, part of Biola University. While pursuing my MDiv I worked as an associate pastor in the Long Beach area for 11 years.

I received my MDiv in 2013 with an emphasis on Spiritual Formation and Soul Care under the instruction of Dr. John Coe at the Institute for Spiritual Formation. I have served on staff with Talbot's Spiritual Formation Core program, providing spiritual direction to graduate students and staff alike. I have also served as an Adjunct faculty member at Biola University. There I had the privilege of leading spiritual formation cohort groups and retreats for graduate students.

Currently, I serve as the Manager of the Certificate in Spiritual Direction Training program and as a Sr. Spiritual Director with Soul Shepherding - www.soulshepherding.org. I am the faculty director for the program where I help train pastors and missionaries to be spiritual directors. I also provide sabbatical coaching, lead retreats and guest speak on topics related to spiritual formation among other responsibilities.

Having served in pastoral ministry for the past 20+ years, I have a real understanding of the joys and struggles that pastors face as they serve in a high people-oriented role. Over the years I hit a wall of burnout and compassion fatigue that propelled me to receive care from a gifted, caring pastor, therapist and spiritual director. I have come through that season having a renewed call to come alongside pastors and ministry professionals facing similar challenges while serving. I believe God has given me a specialty in helping them "tend to their own souls" through the gift of spiritual direction, Sabbatical care, soul care retreats, and pastor Soul Care groups.

Dave and his wife of 32 years reside in Lakewood, CA. They have 4 adult children and 1 still making her way through high school. We attend New Life Community Church in Artesia where I serve as a Life Group leader and provide soul care to the church staff and leadership.

Dave loves to eat Thai food, camp at the beach, ride bikes, watch football, listen to all kinds of music on vinyl with friends and spend time with his family in the pool or at the beach.

God speaks and listens, both intentionally and intimately. Spiritual direction is a time of intentional reflection on your life and relationship with God, moving towards more openness and awareness of God's communication and presence in every corner of your inner and outer life. My goal is to be a second set of ears as we listen for God's subtle movement in your everyday life, as well as in times of big life decisions or changes. I find tremendous joy in creating contemplative, safe spaces for others to connect with God in a way that doesn’t often happen in ordinary life. Spiritual Direction has made a profound impact in my own work and ministry, and I feel honored to sit in this sacred space with others to witness the ways God is at work.

I am a trained educator and social worker whose passions have converged with the practice of Spiritual Direction. My work experience includes teaching middle school in South Side Chicago, working with YWAM in Taiwan, Nepal and Ukraine, and currently facilitating economic empowerment with survivors of homelessness, addiction, and sex trafficking in New York City.

As you can imagine, burnout is real in this work, and when I started seeing a Spiritual Director, it felt like a lifeline. The slow contemplative space it created has been transformative in my life and work. As I started training to become a Spiritual Director, I found that it is my passion to walk with others as they seek to live and work out of a sustaining connection with God. My heart as a Spiritual Director is to create spaces for people to honestly share their journey with God, both the good and difficult, and look for the graces that show how God is at work.

I studied Nonprofit Management at Columbia School of Social Work and completed my certificate in Spiritual Direction and certification in supervising Spiritual Directors through Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction. I finished an Apprenticeship in the Spiritual Exercises through OCL and am certified to accompany individuals through the 19th Annotation of the Ignatian Exercises. I am a co-founder of The Stillness Collective where I lead contemplative retreats in the city. I am currently creating a retreat center in Lancaster, PA called Magnolia Cottage where I envision a space for rest and contemplation.

In my free time, I enjoy caring for my vegetable plot in a community garden in Harlem, experimenting with recipes using the harvested produce, running in Central Park, and off-the-beaten path travel.

About Me

The term spiritual director is ancient and widely used, yet-I prefer spiritual companion. I consider it an honor and a privilege to sit with someone as we both wait in awareness of the Holy Spirit.
When we meet we will spend our time together in the presence of the Holy Spirit to look, listen, discern and move closer to the heart of God. This is not a quick process but a long obedience in the same direction. We will spend a lot of time in quiet listening to the Lord.
What brought me to desire to be a spiritual companion? My journey to this ministry was after 20+ years of walking with Jesus-I wanted more. I found myself tired and weary in my life and I knew the life promised in Scripture was very different. My desire grew for more of God and more of the abundant life Jesus tells us about. (John 10:10) So I began my search for more of Jesus and over the last 8 years he has met me. Every. Step. Of. The. Way. A way that brought me to enter training as a spiritual director in September 2020. God’s lovingkindness has been evident throughout and I am grateful to be able to share that with others. My desire for more has not waned but only grown as I continue to seek the path he has laid out before me. In May 2022 I completed training with the Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction.
I have experience directing: women, women in ministry, women in crisis
I have experience with: The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, Lectio Divina, teen moms, moms of teen moms, families of those with addictions, those who have experienced divorce
I have been on staff with one of the largest youth ministries in the world for almost 25 years and serve caring for staff, as a spiritual director, creating solitude retreats and mentoring younger staff women.

I am passionate about companioning others as they encounter the steadfast love of Christ and respond to His personal invitations. I am inspired to offer creative spiritual spaces for others to encounter Jesus. I offer a warm, personal, and creative yet deep presence as I companion others in their journey with Jesus. I graduated from Denver Seminary with an M.A. in Christian Formation and Soul Care and now offer both individual and group soul care. I offer the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises.

About Me

After many years of pastoring I discovered the gift of meeting with a spiritual director. It was a much needed space with a listening companion for the deep places of my heart. Over time, I was so delighted to discover that God had been naturally leading me into this ministry for others - recognizing it was what I had been doing for decades. That discovery led me to pursue training which I received through CFDM - Los Angeles, more specific training for the Ignatius exercises through the Lanteri Center in Denver, and supervision through Sustainable Faith.
I am deeply grateful to journey with others in the practice of spiritual direction (as well as the ongoing ways my spiritual director & supervisor journey with me).
My husband and I (of 40 years) have three grown children, and fifteen grandchildren. We currently live on several acres on the east side of Denver with chickens, horses, gardens.

I consider each one’s story to be holy, and I am deeply humbled to be a listening companion to whoever God brings my way.
