An empathetic listener open to discuss what is on your mind and heart. I have a burden for people who are hurting from relationship issues, ongoing health concerns, loss and grief. The pressures of society dealing with racial reconciliation can make life hard and confusing trying to find your niche.

Outdoors in nature I find my greatest connection with God. Sitting by the ocean when on vacation. Enjoying the expanse of Lake Superior and her various moods. Walking through my neighborhood taking in the seasonal changes as well as listening to the birds and greeting a friendly dog and its companion. My own small garden provides many hours of digging in the dirt and watching the various plants blooming through the summer. Sunshine and new life and color lift my spirits.

A committed life-long learner, I graduated as a spiritual director in 2014 from Christos Center for Spiritual Formation in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. Interest in energy healing led me to Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry Certified Healing Practitioner in 2019. Certified Aromatherapist 2020, exploring the use of therapeutic Essential Oils to promote healing. Bible study for me has changed over the years to slowly take in what God is saying as I become more intimate with His character revealed in a vital relationship. Currently exploring cross-cultural issues through reading various authors and through discussion on the issues of racial disparity. I enjoy meeting people of other ethnicities.

Exploring my creative side, found me taking various classes in painting – Acrylic, Watercolor, and Oil Pastels – what fun creating some art for my walls and making some greeting cards. Additionally, I took a Contemplative Photography class learning to wait for the photo to “speak” to me before snapping and then “listening” to what the photo wants to reveal.

Married since 1973 to Jim, my best friend and life partner. Without children of our own, God blessed us with surrogate children and grandchildren that we could nurture as well as the children of friends. We have traveled to visit these various “children of love” who call us Aunt and Uncle. Other travel adventures included destination tours around the United States, to Prague in Europe to encourage a group of missionaries, and our annual quiet week of relaxation on Minnesota’s beautiful North Shore along the western side of Lake Superior. Relaxation for both includes reading novels by a variety of authors and discussing the creativity of the author’s imagination of characters and drama. Hiking the Superior Hiking Trail together feels like an adventure with God in creation.

Journeying with someone in life is an honor because it opens the door to knowing that person in a deep way. Many times the trials in life can make us weary and exhausted. I know this because I have traveled that road myself. My hope is to offer a safe place to be heard and to hear from God. Spiritual direction offers the time and space to discover what God is doing in your life and to experience those "ah-ha" moments of insight and understanding.

I received my MA in Spiritual Direction and Soul Care from Talbot School of Theology. Currently, I am a Staff Spiritual Director for the Center for Spiritual Renewal. My group direction experience has ranged from high school leaders, women only, to co-ed groups. I enjoy leading retreats, especially those that introduce believers to new ways of coming before God and listening to Him.

I have been married for 24 years and have four amazing, fun teenagers/young adults. My extra time is spent painting, running, taking yoga classes, reading good books, and having great conversations and adventures with friends.

As a spiritual director, I companion people through the process of change. Life change happens in small and seemingly insignificant ways, but there is always something greater at work. It is in these tiny spaces that we begin to see the seed of change germinate. I love to highlight the liminal spaces of change and invite directees to honor and share what God is doing.

I have one daughter and have raised her while I have been a single parent, so I am acutely aware of the struggles of single mothers—especially ones who are working to complete college degrees and work full-time. Becoming aware of my own need for spiritual direction came late in that time period, but I had several spiritual friendships that helped me through that process.

I am an avid reader and have a deep sense of awe for creative works and pursuits. Much of my research for my doctoral program was in women’s spiritual autobiographies from the medieval period through the twentieth century and I hold a Ph.D. in Humanities from the University of Louisville. I currently work full-time as a professor in a small town in central Kentucky.

I love working with people who consider themselves creative and artistic—and people who have yet to become aware of their giftedness in creativity. I believe God has imbued in each of us an element of creativity and it expresses differently in each of us; some of us are creative engineers, while others are poets. There is beauty in all.

In addition to the regular direction, I have been trained to conduct retreats in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, or Ignatian Exercises, in the 19th annotation.

A desire for God, space, silence and listening was formed in my soul as a young girl growing up in the wide-open prairies of North Dakota. Since that time, I have had the privilege of companioning individuals and groups on their spiritual journey for forty plus years as my husband and I have lived and ministered with the Navigators throughout the US and overseas. I am a psychiatric nurse and have a part-time counseling practice.

In 1999 I received my certificate in spiritual formation from Eastern Mennonite Seminary. Since then I have been offering spiritual direction to individuals and groups and leading silent retreats. In 2006 God led a friend and me to co-found JourneyMates, a contemplative, non-denominational ministry dedicated to help people grow in intimacy with the Triune God through intentionally making space in the rhythm of our everyday life to come apart for silence, solitude, Scriptural reflection, prayer and spiritual companioning.

God has given me a passion to connect with people on their spiritual journeys to awaken a greater awareness of God’s presence in their lives and help them more deeply experience the joy and freedom of His unconditional love. Believing that God is our Ultimate Director, as the Good Shepherd of our souls, and that He is always active and present in our lives, my desire is to listen well to Him and to the individual noticing how God is present and active in their life whether it is in their pain, joy, confession, questions, anger, or delight.

I am a retired pediatric nurse practitioner who graduated from Talbot School of Theology in 2012 with a Masters Degree in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care, serving as a Spiritual Director at the Center for Spiritual Renewal at Biola for the past 9 years.

Family relationships and parenting are the joy of my life with 45 years of marriage, parenting three children to adulthood in the Lord and discovering the joy of being a grandma to 5 little ones. I have served on short term medical mission teams to Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Africa and India and enjoy hiking, skiing, whitewater rafting, photography, singing, journaling, reading and talking with friends.

The journey to hope is fraught with grief. As a spiritual director, life coach and storywork counselor I am committed to providing space and safety for those on the perilous path of hope and healing. I am drawn to people who are in grief, feeling abandoned by God and by those who were supposed to love them. My hope is to provide a space of safety and support that allows others to process their trauma and to experience the longings deep within their own soul.

My own experiences with spiritual direction and storywork were life altering. I was named as good—as a person with value and beauty. For the first time, I began to experience what it means to find harmony between the truth of who I am and the living that I have done. In a way that is profoundly sacred, I began to see evidence of beauty in a story that once only brought me grief.

I completed a certificate in Spiritual Direction and Formation at Moody Bible College. Additionally, I have received advanced training at The Allender Center at The Seattle School of Psychology and Theology in Narrative Focused Trauma Care Levels 1 and 2. It is an honor to serve clients in a one-on-one setting offering the care and containment that they have been missing.

It is my hope to help people who are grieving and searching for answers like I was—wondering if there is hope for goodness and feeling that they have been abandoned. After experiencing burnout from work and life overseas, my husband and I took an intentional Sabbatical year in 2013 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. During this time I began to meet with a spiritual director who helped me hear God's Voice of Love in my life. Hi! My given name is Amanda, but if that seems too formal you can also call me Mandy.

Spiritual Direction found me in 2015 when a mentor of mine began formal training as a spiritual director. I had never heard of such a thing, but the experience has been so life giving to me personally. Pursuing spiritual direction training was a transformative experience in my life. I have personally gone through seasons of doubt and confusion surrounding faith. I continue to come back to Jesus because I have too much evidence of His existence and goodness to go anywhere else. That being said I am comfortable sitting with you in the middle places of faith where it is ok to say ‘I don’t know.’

I am the special needs ministry coordinator at Vineyard Columbus and it is truly my dream job! My academic background is in social work and special education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Sustainable Faith School of Spiritual Direction has trained me as a spiritual director and it is a great joy to journey with you towards a deeper experience with the love and presence of God.

I am a native of Ohio, but I have a serious case of wanderlust and try to travel at any chance I get. Things I enjoy include humor, coffee, cooking for people, conversations, hikes and cozy British books and films. Things I do not enjoy include activity after 9 pm, math, pants that are too tight and humidity. Karen Fields has served as a certified spiritual director and professional life coach for the past twelve years. She pastored with her husband over twenty years, as well as working as a public school teacher for 25 years. Karen received her spiritual director training first with CFDM's L.A. cohort (Christian Formation & Direction Ministries) in 2011, and later continued growing as a spiritual director by earning a Certificate in the Art of Spiritual Direction through the Graduate School of Theology of Redlands, California. Karen has celebrated 43 years of marriage, and is the mother of three adult children and nine adorable grandchildren.

My commitment to spiritual formation emerged from a period of burnout (circa 2005) when I was simultaneously engaged in extensive international travel and cross-cultural ministry as the Missions Director for my denomination while also pursuing a PhD at Fuller. From that painful period came a deep desire to continue engaging with God’s mission in the world while also giving significant attention to my own personal relationship with God. I have led spiritual formation retreats all over the world with pastors and leaders from a variety of cultures. My passion is helping leaders cultivate their own transforming relationship with Jesus as they find new ways to engage with God’s work in the world. Before focusing on missions, I re-planted and pastored a local congregation for more than twenty years.

I have been particularly impacted by the spirituality of Ignatius of Loyola as well as Eastern Orthodoxy, and have received extensive graduate training in both areas. I give substantial attention to my own relationship with Jesus including the daily practice of the Jesus Prayer, the prayer of Examen and lectio Divina. I have met monthly with the same spiritual director since 2006, and frequent a Benedictine monastery for regular personal retreats.

I have helped a growing number of churches/groups in a process of communal discernment. I particularly enjoy helping people in transition to discern God’s emerging direction.

We have three grown children (one of whom is adopted) and a bevy of grandchildren. Long ago I was a Navy FMF Corpsman with the USMC.

I trained in spiritual direction at San Francisco Theological Seminary.

These are some of the many questions we might explore as we seek together to help you grow into the person God created you to be and to explore His purposes for your life. I'm a former hospice chaplain, pastor and life-writing instructor who loves to help people make sense of their past and discover their future, no matter what your current age. I've trained at the Institute for Spiritual Formation in La Mirada CA, hold an M.A. in Religion and Ethics and a second M.A. in Soul Care and Spiritual Formation. I love working with both individuals and groups. I also offer sessions on special topics like "How to Hear God in Nature." I love meeting with those who are navigating their faith, especially during times of disorientation. This disorientation can come from a loss of identity, career transition, the death of a loved one, or shattered dreams. I serve people who need a companion to come alongside them to support, understand, and process feelings as they express their true hearts to God. I encourage people to discover a new sense of wholeness in Christ, even if it feels like pulling a heavy stone up a steep hill.

When there is a crisis, there is often a call for a new way of living. God is the ultimate healer, and spiritual direction is an opportunity to invite Him in openly and honestly. It has been one of the most influential parts of my healing journey.

I graduated with my MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from the Institute for Spiritual Formation, Talbot Seminary. I offer spiritual direction through my private practice in La Habra Heights, CA, via Zoom or in-person and am also a staff director at Biola University.

As a pastor and non-profit administrator, I'm committed to spiritual formation through the busy (and less busy) seasons of our lives. Spiritual direction helped me through some deconstruction while I was a missionary and also through family illness.
