Becoming a spiritual director seemed to be the natural next step for me in my own spiritual journey, but also the next step in serving others. I had been in some form of educational vocation and leadership for years in elementary school, middle school, homeschool, women’s Bible studies, and small group studies. During those years I took training in lay counseling and mentored both students and adults. I was not in a denomination that emphasized spiritual direction, but after studying the early church fathers, desert spirituality, and some of the Christian Mystics I became curious.

In 2010 I took myself on a silent retreat. While planning for that retreat I felt the need for direction, wisdom from someone who had walked this path before. I was hard pressed to find someone who had any experience with a silent retreat. The Lord truly met me during that four day retreat. Part of the way He met me was through the couple who directed the little retreat center I found in central Indiana. I did not know it at the time, but they acted as spiritual directors for me. They listened intently to me, asked questions, listened to God on my behalf, and spoke love and compassion. It was a truly amazing experience and not like anything I had ever experienced before.

That retreat was the beginning of my journey toward discerning my calling and becoming a spiritual director. The experiences of the nearness of presence of God, someone else to listen to God with me and for me, and words of love and understanding touched me deeply. I wanted to help others find this place of deep connection with God and exploration of their place in God as the beloved.

In 2016 I was accepted into the Spiritual Direction Internship at Benedict Inn and Retreat Center in Beech Grove, Indiana. I graduated in 2018 and have been practicing spiritual direction out of my home since then.

I qualified as a SoulCollage® Facilitator in 2019 out of a desire to bring the creative arts into my practice. I have continued my education as a spiritual director through retreats and seminars at Benedict Inn and through Spiritual Directors International. I have designed and directed retreats on Thomas Merton, SoulCollage®, as well as for not for profit groups. I do group spiritual direction through a narrative group and lead a group in contemplative living centered on the writings of Thomas Merton. In April 2022 I completed 30 hours of training on companioning the bereaved taught by Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt PH. D., founder of the Center for Loss and Life Transition.

I consider it a high calling and an honor to journey with people on a one-on-one basis as well as in group spiritual direction. I have also done directed retreats and soul care events and retreats and have a particular heart for ministry leaders and their soul care. I love to share life stories and spiritual pilgrimages with others, helping them see God within their personal journey. My husband and I moved from Houston to San Antonio to help start a plant church where I am on staff in a Soul Care position and Elder.

I have a particular heart for church leaders, pastors, spouses of pastors, the rawness and honesty of the recovery community, and have experience in the unusual area of pet loss and bereavement. I owned a dog obedience school and have trained/shown for many years. Unfortunately, I have a history of a lot of loss and grief within that realm. God seems to place me in the lives of others as they walk through pet related hard decisions, emotions, grief, etc. regarding an area of life that we often somehow think should be minimized.

I enjoy long hikes, long, deep talks, playing in the dirt, good cups of coffee, dogs my wonderful husband and my grandchildren.

I was trained through the Selah spiritual direction certificate program through Leadership Transformations, Inc. I am also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My driving passion is to see people grow deeper in Christ. I am captivated by the reality that there is more of Christ and His love than we have experienced.

I grew up in Colorado Springs, enjoying the beautiful Rocky Mountains. After studying finance at the University of Colorado, I helped churches, non-profit organizations and individuals with stewarding their finances.

Shortly after graduating from college, I discerned a call to full-time pastoral work and enrolled at Fuller Theological Seminary. While working on my Masters in Theology, I was introduced to the ministry of spiritual direction, and realized I had been serving as a spiritual director to others long before I formally knew what spiritual direction was. A few of my seminary professors were also trained in the ministry of spiritual direction, which offered a unique integration between theology and what it means to follow Christ in the day-to-day.

Upon graduating, my wife I moved to Auburn, CA to serve as the community life pastor in a local church. Shortly after moving to Auburn, I attended Sustainable Faith and completed my training in 2018. In addition to serving at the church, I enjoy offering spiritual direction, leading retreats and spiritual formation groups. I recently transitioned off of staff and am pursuing ordination in the Anglican Church and moved back to Colorado and I am pursuing my D.Min in Spiritual Formation at Denver Seminary. I meet with directees in person in Colorado Springs and online anywhere in the world.

I have a heart for pastors, missionaries, ministry leaders and anybody who heart a desire to grow deeper in Christ.

In 2020 I completed my training to become a supervisor. I greatly enjoy the privilege of walking alongside peers in this ministry, where we get the opportunity to attend to our own souls for the sake of those we care for and to grow in our skills to do so. While on staff with Young Life, I had the gift of meeting with a spiritual director, which was especially helpful in a difficult season of ministry in my early 20s. Meeting her led to attending seminary at Fuller's regional campus in Colorado, which is where I met my husband, Bryan. My exposure to and passion for spiritual formation grew in my time at Fuller, with several professors who were also trained in spiritual direction. I felt the nudge and invitation from the Holy Spirit to pursue training in spiritual direction myself, longing to offer the same gifts I had been given to others as they need a safe space to prayerfully articulate the joys, sorrows, questions, doubts, and abundant grace of life in Christ.

After graduating, my husband and I relocated to California, where we both attended the two-year School of Spiritual Direction (SOSD) under Sustainable Faith. I completed Sustainable Faith's SOSD program in 2018, and I recently completed their supervision training as well. I'm the co-director of CURATE Ministries, alongside my husband Bryan, which is a soul care and spiritual formation ministry, dedicated to coming alongside others as they pursue new heights and depths in their spiritual lives.

God has used spiritual direction in such profound, unexpected ways in my own life--I can honestly say it's been a life-changing experience! I find the greatest joy in offering spiritual direction, and I come alive at the chance to walk alongside others in their relationships with God. I consider it holy ground. My heart as a spiritual director is simply to prayerfully listen to you as you share from your own prayer life and journey with Jesus, staying attuned to the Holy Spirit's voice, movements and graces in your life.

I am a mom to two beautiful girls, Evangeline and Lyla. Bryan and I also relocated to Colorado Springs and are enjoying being back in the Rocky Mountains.

"This is what my soul has been aching and longing for." Those were my thoughts after attending my first spiritual formation retreat in 2009. I've pressed in deeply on the spiritual journey ever since. I began serving in ministry right out of college in 1990 and I have many years of experience in different capacities of church ministry. However, there was a new awakening in my personal communication with our Triune God through spiritual formation practices of Lectio Divina, Visio Divina and Ignatian Prayer. I wanted to invite others into experiencing this kind of transformational intimate relationship with our Triune God too. With encouragement from my Spiritual Director, in 2018 I completed a two-year training as a Spiritual Director through SDI (Spiritual Direction Institute) and received training as a Chaplain through UCI (United Chaplains International).

Since 2016, I have been actively involved in JourneyMates, a Christian soul care and spiritual formation ministry, serving as a small group facilitator in group spiritual direction. I consider spiritual direction a humbling honor, as it provides a sacred space to prayerfully listen to one’s deepest concerns, longings, and desires for spiritual growth. What always surprises me is how God loves, lives with and communicates to broken people like me. God is alive and always offering invitations to experience his goodness and grace. As we open ourselves to him, he surprises us with how directly available he is. We savor the delightfulness of his presence, hear his still, small voice and sense his leading. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me." That is his promise to anyone who trusts him.

As a spiritual director I have the joyous privilege to serve as companion with those who desire to respond to God's promptings. For me a greater awareness of God's immediacy began at a silent retreat. There the spiritual director asked questions and offered invitations that opened my perceptions to some of the multitude of ways God communicates with us. It was unlooked for, astounding, joyous, loving and grounded in reality and Scripture. I knew then that I wanted to walk with others as they delved into God's glory and beauty.

I love to see God reveal Himself to others, and it is a joy for me to encourage a life-giving connection to Him. Life is busy, hurried, and noisy at times. Through spiritual direction I love to offer a quiet and unhurried space to give thoughtful consideration to one’s life with God.

God longs to be gracious and compassionate to us. He has expressed His perfect love through Jesus Christ, and desires that we experience this love and be made whole and holy by it. Because of my own experiences of His life-changing grace, my passion is to see people of all ages experience Him intimately. As a spiritual director, it is my privilege to come alongside others to help them notice and be responsive to God's loving presence in all of life. Through reflecting on our life story, asking questions, and prayerful listening, we see evidence of God's grace. We notice together ways God is at work within and around us, and discern His direction and calling.

God desires to transform us more and more into the likeness of Christ. As a spiritual director, I support you as you open yourself to that deepening work, anchoring you in Biblical truth, so you can live into your full potential in Christ and then live that out in the world. Spiritual practices are offered that help you draw closer to God in ways that are meaningful for you.

I received my training in spiritual direction through Sustainable Faith, and have been practicing spiritual direction since 2012. I have also participated in a two-year spiritual formation program through the Transforming Center. In addition, I have been trained to use the Enneagram, a tool for spiritual transformation, facilitating groups and helping individuals to better understand their profiles.

I have been married for 31 years to a remarkable man, David. We have enjoyed the privilege of serving together in church ministry for nearly three decades. We have six wonderful adult children, all of whom I refer to as my greatest earthly treasures!

Trained at Sustainable Faith's School of Spiritual Direction in Cincinnati, Ohio, I've been offering spiritual direction to both groups and individuals since 2010. I am now an instructor for the school, training Cohorts in Portland, Seattle, Detroit, Nashville, and Cincinnati. I also served as a Vineyard pastor for nearly fourteen years.

Born in Hawaii, I grew up in a military family, so I lived in several different states. Five different Elementary Schools, two Middle Schools and three High Schools taught me the value of adaptability (among other things). I eventually followed my sweetheart, Tracey, from Oregon to Southern California where we were married in 1975. Together we raised three children, two of whom have increased the Henry tribe by marrying amazing spouses.

Originally ordained with Calvary Chapel after completing their bible college, I served as a worship leader at Calvary Chapel Valle Vista, and then worship Pastor at North Coast Calvary Chapel. On the winding path from California to Ohio I traversed multi-collar worlds: climbing up telephone poles, down into manholes, designing internet architecture for the phone company, and eventually pausing midlife to complete my Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems. (What a long, strange trip it's been ;)

In 2008 I was invited by Lyman Coleman to prototype a groundbreaking and transformative men’s retreat and group experience for the Vineyard, thus ruining me for traditional small groups and small talk forever. My love for "men's work" continues unabated, meshing wonderfully with the practice of spiritual direction.

I currently meet clients both online (via Facetime, Zoom, etc), and in person. I'm generally available during business hours on weekdays, with some exceptions. It is an honor to walk alongside people on their journey with God. Richard Herman is a retired Presbyterian pastor with over 40 years of experience in pastoral ministry, who continues to serve God's people as a teacher and spiritual director. A graduate of Bucknell University (BA) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M. Div.), he is certified as a Spiritual Director by Oasis Ministries. He has also earned a Certificate in Spiritual Formation from Columbia Theological Seminary subsequent to completing his D. Min at Fuller Theological Seminary, and is a trained Stephen Leader. Dick is married to Lissa and they have a married daughter and two granddaughters, who live nearby. He also enjoys taking walks and bird-watching with Lissa, travel in the Celtic lands of the UK, photography (nature and contemplative) and playing with both his granddaughters and a golden retriever named Winnie.

For Dick, spiritual direction is being a contemplative companion on a faith journey whose presence encourages listening intentionally for the quiet voice of the Shepherd that calls each of us by name, leads us out and sustains us. Direction is the process of paying attention together to the life-giving movement of God’s Spirit in a person’s life held intimately in the hands of God’s that are good, loving, strong and nail-scarred. The director is an “anam cara” or “soul friend” who, amidst a dangerous journey in a dangerous world, provides a safe place and a safe relationship in which to discover and grow in God’s grace and love.

Have you ever felt disconnected or alone? I've been there too. I thought I had the perfect life, until one day it all started to fall apart. On that day, my aunt died, my dad was admitted to the hospital, and my husband of over 20 years decided he wanted to separate. Since then, my dad has also died and my marriage ended in divorce. I have gone through the dark night of the soul (also called the valley of the shadow of death) and found God faithful through it all.

I would be honored to walk with you wherever you currently are in your journey with God. I will hold space with you and the Holy Spirit to help you to connect with Jesus. My goal is to create a safe place where I can help you to hear from Jesus, not to tell you what I think Jesus wants you to know. I cannot promise that you will hear from Jesus during a session for He's in control, not me. But I can lead you through practices that help people to connect with God.

I have a certificate in Spiritual Formation and the Art of Spiritual Direction from Healing Care Ministries. I also have a certificate in Formational Prayer from Ashland Theological Seminary and a BA with majors in psychology and economics from The Ohio State University.

About Me

My journey in spiritual direction started from a personal journey years ago as a successful pastor on the edge of burnout, who stepped away for a season in order to find my true self and put my personal relationship with Christ back in the center of my life, rather than ministry. Now I am blessed to serve only out of my passions & gifts.

Skilled at listening to people’s stories and helping directees and retreatants uncover the movement of God in them. Lots of experience working with people at all stages of their spiritual journey, from spiritual seekers to committed followers of Christ and all stages in between. Work with pastors in crisis & life transitions, and lead retreats for pastors and church leaders to rekindle a deep relationship with Jesus and creating more healthy, sustainable spiritual rhythms. Work with church boards & staffs to set up structures and speak on pastoral wellness. Also serve as a retreat speaker and provide marital/premarital Counseling (Prepare-Enrich Certified Coach for over 15 years).

Pastor for more than 25 years, ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church, currently on the pastoral staff of a large church in the Church of the Nazarene denomination.

Received my training from Fuller Seminary & from the Weborg Center for Spiritual Direction at North Park Theological Seminary. I am a member of the Covenant Association of Spiritual Directors, yet I also have extensive backgrounds in both Benedictine & Ignatian spirituality.

Outside of ministry, passionate loves are my wife, son & hiking/backpacking. My wife also provides support with couples spiritual direction.

I was originally born in Hong Kong, then later on studied oversea in Ontario, Canada for higher education.

In these forty plus years of this interesting journey of my Christian life, there were moments God purposefully and sovereignly allowed unexpected challenges in my life through which God used to lead me into full-time International Ministry, loving others and being hand and feet for Jesus. In heined-sight, God used this full-time ministry to lead me into life rewarding theological training, MA Spiritual Formation and Soul Care in Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. God also used this training to stretch and transform me further, and deepen my Christian journey.

As part of the community of Christ, it is my deepest passion to journey with others as a Spiritual Director, particularly in the Asian Community. I believe that Jesus can heal and bring hope to those who seeks after Him.

Since cross-cultural experiences brings me life and energies, I am totally comfortable with it and find it fascinating to interact with others. I am praying that God will bring blessings, growth, grace and hope to those who walk in this road less travel.
