A Two-Part Professional Development Event

Session 1: Internal Family Systems: A Compassion-Based Spiritual Path

Saturday, March 28, 2026, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Central Time
(remember to adjust for your time zone)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a contemplative, soulful, and non-pathologizing approach to personal healing and spiritual transformation. As a contemporary spiritual path, it deepens our connection to God; it tends, with care, the cacophony of emotions, impulses, and interior self-chatter that so often swirl within us; and it restores us to our true Self, that reservoir of personal power, expansiveness, and compassion that dwells within every human being. This Professional Development Event will cover the basics of what Internal Family Systems is and provide an opportunity to explore and experience how self-compassion, fused with sacred compassion, restores both ourselves and our relationships with others.

Session 2: Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a Model for Spiritual Directors

Saturday, April 18, 2026, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Central Time

Session 2 of this Professional Development Event is designed for spiritual directors who want to explore how IFS can be a model and a process for compassion-based spiritual direction. This model helps to keep spiritual directors grounded in our own compassionate essence and invites those to whom we provide direction into a deeper connection with the sacred and with their own spiritual essence.

Frank Rogers is a spiritual director, supervisor, certified IFS practitioner, retreat leader, writer, and professor of spiritual formation at the ecumenical and interfaith Claremont School of Theology. As the Co-Director for the Center for Engaged Compassion, he offers and teaches compassion-based approaches to spiritual direction and supervision.

He has written numerous articles and books including the following: Cradled in the Arms of Compassion: A Spiritual Journey from Trauma to Recovery; Compassion in Practice: The Way of Jesus, Practicing Compassion, Finding God in the Graffiti: Empowering Teenagers through Stories, and The God of Shattered Glass: A Novel.
