I’m a follower of Jesus, mother of 3, grandmother of 8, and a spiritual director. I have been listening to people for many years in my role at Lakeside Church which has given me a unique perspective and compassion for people. Maybe you are a tired volunteer, a weary parent, staff, pastor, or someone who has been hurt by the church. I feel that I have a place for you to rest, be seen, and heard in whatever you are going through. I would be pleased to serve as your spiritual director!

Hello, I'm Mary Stewart! I’m a Minnesota native and grew up in a nearby town where I met and married my husband, Ric. We relocated to Worthington in 1981 and have made it our home where we raised our three children. All three are raising their families in the Twin Cities and California. We also love our role as grandparents to our 9 awesome grandkids.
Growing up in a small town in southern Minnesota has given me the heart of a farm girl loving all things growing. I’m curious and experiment with growing plants and flowers much like I love seeing people grow, noticing their eyes reflecting what’s in their soul. In the years of serving in roles of discipleship and care at our home church, spiritual direction felt like a natural move to complement what I have been doing. In the spring of 2024 I completed the Listening People to Life spiritual direction training through Kairos University. This followed the exploration of my calling and vocation through the VantagePoint3 spiritual formation series. I am now serving as a spiritual director and have begun Soul Care by Mary serving people in my church, community, and through life connections. Being a part of God’s restoring work in the world as a spiritual director brings me great satisfaction. I feel that I have a unique perspective and compassion for people who serve in ministry roles with my long-time role in the church. I can also offer a heart of compassion to parents who have suffered with broken relationships with their adult children. I would count it a great privilege to walk alongside you in your spiritual journey in whatever you are going through. Â
