May the peace of Christ be with you! My name is Matt Kessler. I lead a small non-profit in San Antonio, Texas dedicated to leadership formation, spiritual direction, soul care, and wilderness adventure trips. I am passionate about coming alongside and guiding people into a deeper experience of the Father’s love, identity and freedom in Christ, and fullness of life in the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual Direction is a biblical form of Christian soul care that dates back to the earliest days of the church. It is a one-on-one relationship organized around Scripture, prayer, and conversations. It is an accompanied journey of the soul with the goal of spiritual renewal, transformation in Christ, and deeper union with God. My first experience with spiritual direction came during one of the most difficult times I ever faced in ministry. Through Scripture reading, prayer, journaling, and weekly conversations with my spiritual director - the Lord met me, healed me, redeemed my pain, and breathed new life into my calling and ministry.

I was trained as a Spiritual Director through the Cenacle School of Spiritual Direction in Clearwater, Florida. As a spiritual director, it is my privilege to share all that has been so graciously invested in me to help others grow deeper in their relationship with God, self, and those around them.

I have served in ordained ministry in the local church for 30 years. I have a Master's in Divinity, and I am a certified Leadership Coach, Stephen’s Minister, Spiritual Director, Trauma Care Counselor, and Primitive Skills Survival Instructor.
I have planted and pastored two churches, helped start and lead several non-profit ministries, and I have served as a missionary bishop in the Anglican Communion since 2017.

I have been married for 26 years and have three children…and two Australian Shepherds.
