Join us for our 2027 CSDA Gathering on the beautiful grounds of the Franciscan Renewal Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This in-person experience will include times of learning, times of sharing, times of prayer, and times of solitude.
As spiritual directors increasingly accompany people across lines of culture, ethnicity, theology, generation, language, and lived experience, many are recognizing that compassion alone is not enough. We also need intercultural awareness and agility, the capacity to remain grounded in Christ while navigating difference with humility, curiosity, wisdom, and love.
In this keynote, David and Cindy Wu will explore how contemplative spirituality can form spiritual directors who are both deeply rooted and relationally open. Drawing from their work among immigrant, refugee, diaspora, and multicultural communities, they will reflect on the invitations and challenges of accompaniment in an increasingly interconnected and polarized world.

This gathering will invite participants into deeper attentiveness to the Spirit’s work within and between us as we learn to accompany others with greater intercultural wisdom, humility, and love.

David and Cindy Wu are the co-founders of Mosaic Formation, a nonprofit ministry dedicated to expanding access to spiritual formation, spiritual direction, and contemplative care for diverse and underserved communities through a “Freely Receive, Freely Give” model of generosity.
David serves as Executive Director of Mosaic Formation and has spent many years teaching and accompanying Christians in spiritual formation and spiritual direction. He also serves as Senior Faculty with Selah, Leadership Transformations’ spiritual direction training ministry.
Cindy serves as Director of Diaspora Ministries at Mosaic Formation. Her work focuses on immigrants, refugees, diaspora communities, intercultural leadership development, and contemplative formation across cultures. Together, David and Cindy help cultivate the Mosaic Network, a growing ecosystem of ministry leaders serving at complex cultural intersections around the world.
Their shared passion is helping spiritual directors and ministry leaders grow in intercultural awareness and agility, learning how to remain deeply rooted in Christ while also becoming more hospitable, humble, and connected across lines of difference. Their work integrates contemplative spirituality, trauma awareness, diaspora perspectives, and a vision of Beloved Community shaped by the global Church.
Registration is open to CSDA members only from July 1-31.
Beginning August 1, non-members will also be able to register.
